Under the leadership of Angus Wilson, UQ percussion students perform sonically diverse percussion ensemble works intertwined with engaging solo compositions. Complex rhythms, melodic fluency, ensemble communication and instrumental power underpins the repertoire which highlights the versatility and virtuosity of the ensemble.

In concert with vibrant and briskly rhythmic newer works, the program features a vivid interpretation of Saint-Saëns' Aquarium from The Carnival of the Animals. Performed on keyboard percussion, the students reveal a gentle aspect of percussion instrumentation. The student solo repertoire spans a wide spectrum of styles, showcasing pieces from various eras on a diverse collection of instruments and musical arrangements. Our percussion instructors, Angus Wilson and Jacob Enoka, will also participate in the performance.
